Tech Test

Core gameplay loop: develop your fantasy colony and survive waves of monsters. There’s no end goal for now, and the game currently has two types of characters: villagers and heroes. Heroes are combat specialists and can explore the map, fight with monsters outside of the colony and level up & find or buy better equipment.

Villagers stay in the colony, work, hunt animals and pay taxes. They can also provide basic defense for the colony. Version Alpha 1 will have a few different buildings controllable by played villagers: the main hall, blacksmith, and inn, as well as defense structures that can be placed around the colony. There are several types of villagers, such as hunters who can hunt animals, forage herbs, and pay taxes. Hunters have basic ranged attack against monsters, and there’s also guardians who can protect your village from monsters. They have good defense, but not very strong in attack and can only do melee attacks. The other types of villagers (i.e., tax collector, blacksmith and potion makers) cannot fight.

Heroes act as defenders of the village, returning each night to defend against a wave of monsters. They also pay taxes and purchase equipment from looted gold. They can find weapons on the map, store items in an inventory, level up. There are two classes of heroes: ranger and warrior.

Alpha 1 will include three types of monsters (from weakest to strongest): goblins, orcs and trolls, as well as some animals.

What can player do? In addition to protecting the village, players can buy upgrades for the buildings in their village which will result the ability to create better potions, more weapons, and improve defensive structures. Players can also hire hunters, guardians, and heroes, and they can set bounty rewards for heroes.
